Founding team
Product & Integrations Engineer
We’re looking for an experienced engineer who enjoys turning a useful idea into software that people can actually use. You’ll help connect energy information with clear dashboards and everyday service tools, giving installers and homeowners a better way to understand their systems and follow up when something needs attention.
What you’ll work on
- You’ll build connections to agreed data sources and services, making it clear where information comes from, how recent it is and what happens when a connection fails.
- You’ll develop dashboards and tools that help people understand energy performance, see what needs attention and follow an issue through to a checked outcome.
- You’ll work with the founder and service specialists to understand the person using each feature, then turn their needs into straightforward software.
- You’ll write useful tests and documentation, take part in technical review and make your work easy for another engineer to build on.
What we want to achieve first
- The first project should deliver a useful feature or connection with a clear purpose, using authorised live data or clearly labelled sample data as appropriate.
- Someone using the feature should be able to understand the information in front of them and what they can do next, including when the data is incomplete.
- The work should come with tests, setup instructions and a clear explanation of anything that still needs to be improved or agreed.
The experience we’re looking for
- You have practical experience building backend or full-stack applications and connecting them to external services through APIs.
- You can show software you personally delivered and explain how you handled data, permissions, errors and the needs of its users.
- You are comfortable taking a feature from a short brief through implementation, testing and review without needing every step prescribed.
- You communicate clearly, ask when an assumption needs checking and welcome thoughtful review of your work.
Other experience that could help
- Experience with time-series data, monitoring dashboards or connected equipment would be useful for the kinds of features we expect to build.
- It would also help if you’ve worked in a small product team where engineers speak directly with the people using the software.
How we’ll get started
- Start with a short application and one relevant example of software you built, explaining your contribution.
- If there’s a potential fit, we’ll talk through your experience, approach to delivery and availability.
- We’ll agree a small paid exercise or first project, with appropriate technical review and reference checks made with your permission.
- Any continuing engagement will have agreed responsibilities, compensation and priorities before it starts.
As we prepare Vardane’s first service in Ireland, you’ll work with Leon Kennedy and the people joining the team to turn your experience into a reliable product and service.
